A site map is commonly found in larger websites, due to the large amount of information and web pages that such websites contain. Essentially, the main purpose of a site map is to provide the viewer with an overview or top-down view of the website’s contents immediately at one glance. The site map will also allow the viewer with easy access to the relevant web pages that they are interested in. Usually the site map “bullet points” will be “hyper-linked” to the respective correct webpage. An example of how a site map would look like (using this site as an example) is as follows:
